Herstory
WICCA.was founded in 1983 in Monmouth, Oregon, USA, by Norma Joyce and a group of women called the Founding Mothers. Our name was Women In Constant Creative Action.
In 1984, we incorporated with the State of Oregon, USA, and appled for church status with the Department of Internal Revenue. We followed this path as we felt it was important for Women's Spirituality to be recognized as a bonafide religion.
In 1985, we organized the first Festival of Women's Spirituality in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. This festival was attended by over 300 women and was considered a mile stone in the Women's Spirituality movement.
In 1989, we moved to Eugene, Oregon, USA.
On May 10, 1992, we re-birthed and WICCA started a new phase of Her work. In 1996, we changed our name to Women In Conscious Creative Action, knowing that this change will bring us women who would like to make self determination their priority.
We, the women of WICCA, honor our past and are excited about our future. We ask women of like mind, of all ages, to join our web.
